Investing for Results is the municipality’s report card to help “answer the question of whether government spending has produced results or provided citizens with the value they expect.” They established five strategic priorities to provide a framework and methodology for achieving their goals.
- Albuquerque, New Mexico
In May 2000, the Indicators Progress Commission released to Mayor Chavez, the Albuquerque City Council, and citizens, the Albuquerque 2000 Progress Report. This report contains the five-year goals that will “direct city programs in ways that make them more responsive to community needs and conditions, thereby improving the efficacy and performance of government services."
This report also has the goal statements with the desired community conditions and goal progress indicators. The goals are divided into seven (7) categories, which are:

- Public Infrastructure
- Sustainable Community Development
- Environmental Protection and Enhancement
- Economic Vitality
- Community Building

CitiStat is an accountability tool based on the ComStat program pioneered in the New York City Police Department by Jack Maple. CitiStat is the force behind how Mayor O’Malley runs the City of Baltimore. It is a weekly accountability report for all city agencies. Also contained on this site are relevant news and journal articles on CitiStat.

Using an objective scorecard approach, the citizen’s annual report provides information to the citizens about the city’s accomplishments and challenges.
Information in the Citizen’s Annual Report is “organized according to seven strategic objectives upon which the City monitors progress in meeting citizen expectations:
- Maintain a competitive tax rate,
- Reduce crime,
- Increase safety,
- Strengthen neighborhoods,
- Provide safe, convenient transportation,
- Enhance service delivery,
- Promote economic opportunity.”

Similar to other cities, Detroit uses a CompStat program to collect data within the city. The Detroit Police Department (DPD) uses CompStat for the purpose to reduce crime and improve the quality of life for each citizen in Detroit. This is achieved through four basic steps: accurate and timely intelligence, rapid deployment of resources, effective tactics, and relentless follow-up and assessment.

Kansas City puts out an annual report from the City Auditor's Office as well as numerous other reports and audits.

The Mt. Lebanon Annual Report is a relatively short, accessible document filled with information about the city's revenues and expenditures as well as paragraphs about the running of their city.
- New York City, New York
The Mayor's Office of Operations monitors and assesses agency performance to assure efficient agency management and accountability. The Mayor's Management Report (MMR), which is mandated by the City Charter, serves as a public report card on City services affecting the lives of New Yorkers. The MMR is released twice a year. My Neighborhood Statistics (MNS) lets New York City residents know how City agencies are performing in their neighborhood.
Citywide Performance Reporting (CPR)
Citywide Performance Reporting (CPR) is New York City's comprehensive online tool that lets you access and review data about performance management. The focus of the statistical information in CPR is on the performance of City agencies in delivering services to the public.

The city auditor's part of the Palo-Alto website includes three SEA reports as well as numerous audits and information about the auditing process.

The City Manager’s Executive Report “provides policy makers and managers with comprehensive and timely executive level information to evaluate the progress of City programs and activities, determine the effectiveness of resource utilization, and identify strengths, weaknesses and opportunities in the organization. The report also provides checkpoints for planning, forecasting, and budgeting.”
- Pocatello, Idaho
Pocatello's massive Service Level Report is filled with inputs and outputs information, including a city-wide analysis, department executive summaries, and dapartment detailed briefings.

The City of Portland uses a community-based strategic planning process and issues numerous performance reports by the Audit Services Division. The mission of the Audit Services Division is to promote honest, efficient, effective, and fully accountable City government. To fulfill this mission the Division audits and evaluates City operations to provide useful and objective information to citizens, City Council, and management.
Each year the city issues its Service Efforts and Accomplishments Report. The report is intended to:
- improve the public accountability of City government,
- assist council, management, and citizens in making decisions,
- help improve the delivery of public services.

- San Diego Citizens’ Budget Project
The San Diego Citizens' Budget is a grassroots project involving taxpayers, civic leaders and nationally recognized experts with a mission of evaluating the size and scope of the City of San Diego's short-term budget deficit and long-term liabilities. The Citizens' Budget Project is a comprehensive "performance audit" of each city agency and department with the intention of offering a real set of options for reforming the city government to reduce budget costs while improving the quality of city services.

The purpose and scope of San Jose's City Service Area Performance Report is, "To report on the status of the seven City Service Areas'(CSAs) progress toward strategic goals and service performance targets contained in their CSA Business Plans."

The Santa Monica Sustainable City Plan website includes reports, a history of the program, guiding principles, and more.
- Scotttsdale, Arizona
The City of Scottsdale Annual Budget 2006/07 has a section (Vol. 2) that provides information regarding all City service areas. Information includes: key trends impacting service delivery, program objectives and relationship to Council Broad Goals, accomplishments, budget highlights, annual operating costs, staffing, and program performance measures.
- Tucson, Arizona
The Tucson Annual Report to Citizens 2004 focuses on the accomplishments of the city in the past year and includes a statement from the mayor on goals for the following year.
- West Hartford, Connecticut
The West Hartford website includes performance reports for the police department, fire department, and department of financial services.
