Reporting initiatives – local government
Cities, towns, and counties have been working hard at developing their own performance measurement initiatives. Their efforts take on various names such as Benchmarking, SEA Reports, Strategic Performance Plans, Progress Reports, ComSTAT, Performance Budget Reports, Measuring Up, and Efficiency Measures.
As with state, federal, and international initiatives, various offices within each governmental unit assume the responsibility of reporting their performance. Common offices are the Budget Office, Office of Management and Budget, Office of Organizational Effectiveness, and the City Council.
As it is known, each state has a Department of Education however; the control doesn’t always reside with the State. Many cities and counties direct and manage the money they receive from the State. Many performance and reporting initiatives are based on the local level.
