GASB project project description
Task force
With the growing interest in service efforts and accomplishments in the late ‘80s, the GASB organized a taskforce of educated, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and diverse public servants. These individuals voluntarily assist the GASB in researching and developing SEA reporting. They contribute their time, expertise, and ideas to the GASB’s efforts by way of meetings, email and mail correspondence, and enhancing jurisdictional efforts and knowledge.
As task force members, they “play an important role in the process of establishing and improving standards of governmental accounting and reporting by:
- Providing expertise and diverse viewpoints relevant to the project,
- Providing a mechanism for communication between the GASB and its constituents,
- Providing a means for the GASB to learn of potential implementation problems at an early date.” (GASB Rules of Procedure, 101-2)
The most recent task force meeting was held December 10, 2001, in New York City. Members met to discuss their thoughts on a preliminary set of suggested criteria for use in a special report on reporting performance information.
